Grand Alliance French

League of Augsburg French 1688-97 Painted some time back about to be re based for Impetus Baroque which looks likely to be released this year at some stage. So a good excuse to drag these guys out of storage and get them onto the work table….see exactly what needs doing to get them up to speed. Shall probably add some more pike, touch up some of the officers and flags. Figures are all 25mm Dixon….one of my favourite ranges from them and rated as a classic now in my book. All painted in enamels so gives you an idea how far back we're going :-)

  5. Yummy stuff Tarty, if they don't make appearance in the rules then I'll go heave, or your too bloody lazy to submit a few piccies

What frontage are you using? There is some static on the subject as you full know. I was rather thinking 160mm as this gives a good breakdown into 80 and/or 40mm to complement other rules.....

    1. Cheers Dave….I'll be going with full size 160mm frontage. The foot are on 120s now ( a little squashed ) and I would also like to squeeze a few more pike in anyway.

    2. Excellent 160 it is, let the dissenters play by themselves... with themselves?

  8. Very eye popping collection. I forgot how nice those Dixon figures are and the paint job really shows it.

  9. Yes they hold up quiet well I think as a range considering how long they've been around. Thanks Iowa G

  10. It might be an old range boys but they were always a treat to paint, still are. I did acquire a few EBOR WSS and GNW last year for a looksee and was favourably impressed. Nick prices right too which helps.

    1. Cheers Monty…..painted this about 1991 probably my first serious paint job on any large scale project. When I say serious I mean put in more effort than I would have previously…hahaha This is by no means all of them …I was quiet obsessed with the period at the time….still a very soft :-)
